Welcome back to the Six Foot Love series at The Wild Detectives. A series of live outdoor performances with numbered seats and limited capacity.

We are stoked to host back in our backyard the unpredictable madcap genius Paul Slavens!

A composer, pianist, improv song generator, and long-time host of The Paul Slavens Show, a weekly radio show on KXT 91.7 in DFW.

He recently released “Alphabet Girls Vol II” on State Fair Records.

Slavens has been active in the music scene in North Texas since the late 80s and got his first exposure in the popular band Ten Hands.  Part of the legendary Deep Ellum era, Ten Hands continues to play to their faithful fans.

While known for his on-the-spot improvisational songs which are generally comedic, the music on Alphabet Girls Vol II is better described as modern chamber music through an art rock lens.

…Music is there for you to listen to and to get information from. Music’s not there for you to be entertained by, either. If somebody took the time to make that music and record it and put it out, and somebody else listened to it enough to like it and suggest it for me to listen to, then I’m going to listen to it. I realized early on with the radio show that if I only played music that I liked, it was going to be a dull show that wouldn’t last long. Anybody who has listened to a lot of music knows that your favorite music is usually stuff that you did not like the first time you heard it. Giving music that you think you don’t like another chance has been one of the most rewarding things in my life…
