Miriam Horn joins us for the launch of Homesick for a World Unknown: The Life of George B. Schaller, her new biography of the pioneering field biologist and conservationist. Drawing from Schaller’s journals and letters, extensive interviews, and time spent with him in the field, the book follows seven decades of work studying animals including mountain gorillas, tigers, lions, pandas, jaguars, and snow leopards, and his role in changing both wildlife science and modern conservation. Horn will be in conversation with Riley Rennhack.

Together they will talk about Schaller’s life, his approach to understanding animals by living alongside them, and the relationship between science, conservation, and the natural world. Miriam Horn is an author, journalist, filmmaker, and environmental advocate whose previous books include Rebels in White Gloves and Rancher, Farmer, Fisherman. Her work has also included documentary filmmaking and writing for publications including The New York Times.
