D-CLAIM 003: J.D. Debris
D-CLAIM is a Dallas-based jazz & literature collective founded by poet/bassist J.D. Debris, backing contemporary poets with hypnotic live-band grooves. The third Thursday of every month at The Wild Detectives, D-CLAIM brings together hip-hop tinged jazz with a poetry reading, highlighting an improvisational confluence of words and music.

J.D. Debris: bass and featured poet
Debris is a poet, fiction writer, and musician from Salem, Massachusetts, known for his unique live performances incorporating poetry, live music, and storytelling. His debut book, The Scorpion’s Question Mark, was selected by Cornelius Eady for the 2022 Donald Justice Poetry Prize. He has been a Goldwater Fellow at New York University, where he received his MFA, a Luso-American Fellow at DISQUIET, and a Mass Poetry Teaching Artist Fellow. He is currently a Hughes Fellow in Creative Writing at Southern Methodist University.
