Oak Cliff Flamenco Festival

Event Details

We’re again part of the Oak Cliff Flamenco Festival. On Friday, September 16, Bishop Arts will be taken over by The Bishop Arts Barrage, which will fire live Flamenco performances in more than 10 locations at the same time–and The Wild Detectives is one of them.

From 8.30pm we’ll host a proper Cante show. Cante means singing in Spanish, and it’s the purest form of Flamenco. It encompasses different styles; from happy and festive Bulerías to heartfelt and soulful Seguiriyas in which Flamenco singers express the ancestral pain of the gypsy exodus with intense, throat-breaking singing; Quejío is called, meaning literally lament. Vicente Griego will perform his cante accompanied by Chuscales on Spanish guitar and Abejorro on percussion. After the show we’ll get the artists being part in The Bishop Arts Barrage jamming in our backyard.

Flamenco music & dance are riveting Spanish art forms that will be the focus of the 10- day-long festival September 15-25, that will take here in Oak Cliff. Get ready for heart pounding percussion & lightning fast footwork accompanied by world class musicians. At the same time, sophisticated and fierce, the festival will consist of flamenco dance at various venues, music only performances, a dance workshop, an art show, paella cook out & the outdoor showing of flamenco-themed cinema.
