Event Details

Join us for an extraordinary cultural journey at the Nuit de la lecture – A Night of Reading – Noche de lectura. More than fifteen readers will explore the universal theme of “The Body” through the richness of French, English, and Spanish, literature.

Joaquin Zihuatanejo, the inaugural poet laureate of Dallas, will come along with his forthcoming poetry collection, Occupy Whiteness. The book will be available for purchase ahead of the publication date that night. It’s genre-bending, highly creative, and multilingual.

Complemented by the jazz rooted multi-cultural weavings of the Brianne Sargent Trio and the artistic strokes of live painting with Nigerian artist Simo, this event promises an evening of cross-cultural connections and creative synergy. Come to listen or declaim to celebrate linguistic diversity and cultural richness!

Organized by the Alliance Française de Dallas, in partnership with Deep Vellum, Villa Albertine, and The Wild Detectives.

“Me, it’s my body that thinks. He’s smarter than my brain. It feels more finely, more completely than my brain. When my body thinks… everything else goes silent. At those moments, all my skin has a soul.”
