We’re Starting a New Book This Month!
We’re excited to start a new book this month, Strange Pilgrims, a collection of short stories by Gabriel García Márquez translated by Edith Grossman. We read two short stories each month and meet on the second Thursday of every month at 7PM at The Wild Detectives. We hope to see you there!

Why did you start a bilingual book club?
To create a welcoming space for people who share our love for literature and the Spanish language at our favorite book store!

How long have you been meeting?
This book club was formed in August 2021!

When do you meet?
We meet every second Thursday at TWD at 7PM.

What are you reading?
We are currently reading Doce Cuentos Peregrinos de Gabriel García Márquez and the translation Strange Pilgrims translated by Edith Grossman.

What kinds of books do you discuss?
We mostly read fictional short stories by Latin American and Spanish authors. We discuss 2 short stories a month.

Do I have to be fluent in Spanish to join?
No. All language levels are welcome to join. You can choose to read the original text in Spanish, the English translation, or both. The conversation tends to flow in both languages.
